Waiting and Listening for the Call

So...ive been doing a lot of waiting...my thumbs are on the brink of being a twiddle-free zone soon...well, i lie..ive been tryin to be productive.

Well...im waitin for what God is calling me to do...ever since He has really struck me and called me His own...my perspectives on life have changed...He will be the one callin shots 'cos ultimately He knows whats good for me...but He's not tellin me the plan right now...so, here i am...perched on the roof waitin.

Different topics have come up in my head but after speaking to Bert, one of my fears is the security of my family and my future family...whether i'll be able to support them on all counts whether it would be financial or non-financial...are the things i want to do right by God or im followin my human desire? will i pick it...be happy till the novelty wears off and find out it has been a mistake all along and this was part of the "learning and moulding" programme...if God wanted me to go through that process, so be it but i really want His presence and safety to be felt over what im supposed to be doing. Contrary to popular beliefs, i do have goals..i do have targets...but only if they are right by the Big Man Upstairs...

I jus want to sort out problemo numero uno first...try and lay down this problem and i'll rest easier...this stage is so hard...i see everyone, and they have their goals and they are gettin on with it...i want that. But only when God tells me to...

So, for now...i'll wait. 'Cos when it comes...it will come...and nothing will make me happier.

Big iD and Mayhem Friday the Third

So...been an eventful 2 days...

Thursday - Big iD
Overall, although we ran as a trial...i thought we did pretty well considering the relatively no experience and very strict time constraints...i think it was all ultimately put together in 3 or 4 weeks...Still loads to work out but i think the overall experience was positive..
We started off with games...that was very successful...i brought my best friend Adnan along...and when Bert said we were gonna play some games Adnan was like;
"Dude...you didnt tell me bout games..."
"Dude...i did."
"DUDE...No you didnt!"
We played Aye Sir No Sir...and as the game progressed...i think Adnan slowly began to enjoy himself "in a weird way" (what he said) ... We had a secret weapon, Josh...man, that dude is good at that game...but ultimately let down by Amy's struggle to utter a single word...thwarted.
Second was Action Man Chinese Whispers...that went pretty well...there was one action where it got completely derived into a different action and Jelly tapped me on the shoulder...and jus didnt look me in the eye as he proceeded to wave his arms and pretend to flatten his hair...
Next was the Acts bit...I started and sang 'Lifesong' and 'Breaking my fall' with the guys and chrissy. went ok..altho i got muddled with the timing of the song...so there were bits where i had to restart but i think the piano drowned me out at the time...so it was cool..
Tuuls was next...played solo...was cool...then the last song she did was "Fix You" by Coldplay...Chrissy and I sung it...only practiced it an hour before the event started so we had to like try and pick out the starting bits..but it was a fun song to do...i watched it on video friday evening at berts...man, i looked stupid...but not as silly as terence as he danced to it for a lil while...which was funny as usual.
Terence came up next with his talk..very nice...thought provoking yet light and funny...classic terence...couldnt ask for no substiute...
Testimonies next...Lil G and Sam did very well...i think it really connected with some of the new ppl there of what its like to be with God...which was awesome.
I think Worship came next...need to learn how to pick the right songs when leadin somethin like that...gotta make sure i know which songs suit a certain number of people in the congregation...
Food. Need i say more...i made a better cheesecake than sam..altho she did sabotage mine in the morning...

Friday: Mayhem Friday the Third
So...in the morning till mid arvo..spent it in the library doing chemistry (joy) then met up with Adnan to start Mayhem Friday the Third. now... i know some of u are probably goin "Mayhem Friday? what?" ... lemme tell u...its great.
Mayhem Friday:
1) Was created by adnan and i
2) Is being more outrageous than we usually are in a controlled way
3) Is Fun

Rules:
1) Only on a Friday
2) Only on a Friday that is a holiday
3) To get something that we usually ponder and wonder and analyse whether to get without feelinig guilty or regretful...During Mayhem Friday the First...i ended up with a Kool & The Gang album...Mayhem Friday the second...adnan and i ended up with hats...Today, i ended up with comic books and Adnan ended up with a blazer, tshirts and a pair of converse shoes...but thats cos he lives in London and doesnt buy anything there. I was the fashion consultant...Metrosexual shopping we call it.
4) Live up to the Mayhemic Mayhem

Got my belated birthday present from Adnan....a Jim Lee Batman figurine and Action comics Superman issue 1 the reprint so its retold again...Nick and Bert now truly believe im a nerd. Nick does...he shook his head when i showed him the stuff...cant wait to see his face when i tell him im goin to the geek convention in March...!
Spent some time with Adnan and another old friend Rob who is at Stourbridge doin art foundation..havent seen him in awhile...pretty good friend of mine..did some catching up at starbucks...he is sometimes a lil slow so he said at the counter..
"yeah..can i have a mocha coffee please?"
"ok..what size sir?"
"the Big one"
"Venti?"
"umm..no..the Grannn-dai one"

which i thought was funny.
Then went to C'n'R...analysis of Big iD and watched another Nooma vid...i like Rob Bell man..he has really cool ideas...

So, im here...ive unwrapped the Batman figurine...ive jus typed mom's worship chords and lyrics...not tired for some reason.hmmm....

Microsoft

So...im tryin to upload some music...well, not some...quite a fair bit...i thought my ears deserve a bit of an update when they walk around the streets of Birmingham...got some new Hillsong stuff, Rufus Wainwright, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, We are Scientists (salute to Miss Kwan), The Working Titles, Sufjan Stevens....stuff like that.

Connect my Phillips player to the USB ports and whatnot...fire up the program...so far so good...its loadin...the percentage loading bar is slowly increasing...nice...its my brothers Microsoft computer since my mp3 player is not compatible with the iMac...if i only had the power of foresight, i shouldve bought an iPod...and there was my stint on getting somethin "different"...pah.
then it "Encounters a problem"...so, exit program and start again..."Encounters a problem"...this goes on for 20 minutes...forget it...maybe tomoro...

*24 hours later*

"COME ON?!!!!"

so yes..im totally up this cyber creek without a paddle...what the heck am i gonna do now?

shouldve got an iPod...

dagnabit

cant wait for my Phillips mp3 player to kaput...ill probably go bored of the songs before it kaputs itself anyway...

iD Big tomoro...2-4pm...at the BCEC near the MailBox be there or be square i guess...square is not good...gettin thru doors could be a problem...

PS- Didnt draw that picture...found it while surfin for somethin along the lines of that

An Eternal Song

So...C'n'R was really cool on friday. bert showed us this clip from Nooma entitled "Rhythm" by Rob Bell. i sat there and this analogy totally worked on me...it really as bert likes to say, "resonated" in me.
it was about how God was i think this beautiful and eternal song that never stopped playing...its beautiful and can draw u in to 'play' and be in tune with the song...u pick up ur instrument and u play in tune with the song...

what i picked up from it...that it is eternal. That as harsh as it may sound, it will keep playing...forever and ever...people can say disregard it and reject the tune...but it wont stop. it will keep playing...and its down to us whether or not u want to play in tune or not. sure there will be times where we will play the song and then fall out of tune...but all we need to do is re-focus ourselves and play in tune again.

such a simple analogy but it worked...i totally get it...i think.
I think its been buggin me cos my biology teacher wanted scientific proof that God exists...and that has made me change the way i look at my teacher now...but ive learnt that God is above that...he is above science...He will keep playin the song...its not like he has flicked away my teacher...God will keep playin the song...and that is so comforting to know He will never stop...

Church was really good today...really picked up alot froom Bert bout perserverance and rebuilding...and at some ways, realising that "Living for God" is not jus somethin u say...my friend Desmond (well, his name is Derrick...but ive known since i was 11 and ive always called him 'Desmond') and his fiancee Adeline came to church! and they loved it...they thought the atmosphere was great, speaker was excellent (she even said Bert should come and speak at her church) and jus overall general coolness. Hopefully, they'll visit more often...they wanna hear my mom and myself lead...i think Desmond jus wants to laugh at me(!) iD was good too...terence gave a talk bout "What Heaven would be like" and got an Eric Clapton song into the mix too...Tears in Heaven...nice song. I also mimiced the actions and laziness of a panda today...thought i got that down to a tee.
AH! also got some strange belated birthday presents from very deranged women...Daughter of Crazy lady got me potato (called "Potato of Hapiness"), incontinence knickers (a diaper) and a 19p money tree and a Superman t-shirt...Crazy lady got me 2 carmen-esque badges...and Daughter of Crazy lady and C-wizzle got me 3 boxes of Whittard's tea...fueling my tea addiction...nice. the only sane things i got were a sketchbook and some comics from D...which is really cool!

But yeah...hope y'all start a nice halfterm and ill post soon..
Big iD is comin up on Thursday...hope to see y'all there..

19 - Part II

So...i posted the first "19" draft at like 16.30 on the 5th of February...i was thinkin " yeah....19...nice...what times dinner?" It was exactly like that...dinner...oh, and sam and sue were poppin round for a few minutes or so to say 'hi' and 'bye'...no biggie thing.
Get a text from Sam at 5:00pm askin if i want to go out for a birthday drink...seein as i was doin homework and was at the point of going insane i replied:
"ok...but i gotta be home quick...my mom is makin some stuff for my birthday for dinner...u guys wanna join?"
so...time wandered on for a lil while longer...watched an episode of The OC...tryin to figure out the Seth Cohen mannerism...The OC aint packed with too much so the mind does wander!
6:30pm - They are downstairs...i walk out the door and Sue has shoved her head and hands out the window and is makin huge waving movements at me...crazy lady...get into the car and Alan is in the car...yeah..cos he jus came back from the conference with those guys so thats cool...havent seen him in awhile. Sam looked like she was hopped up on sugar and was makin the weirdest faces at me and shoutin "HEELLLLOOOOOOOOOOO....." too much sugar i put it down as.
So we go to a pub in Harborne and jus have a nice chat seein as i havent seen these 2 in awhile..Sue was in church this morning. Obviously got bullied by the crazy women...at least Alan was defending my side...

Get a call from Matt as we are about to leave:
"Hey! Where are u?! Come home now...Mom's already finished cookin and im gettin hungry..." So we rushed home...didnt wanna keep matt waitin...

7:40pm - Get home, moms in the kitchen and matts watchin TV...Sue, Sam and Al go into the living room and i decide to go put my shoes away in my room...couldnt wait to tuck into some curry and a lil bit of cake afterwards...turn on the light cos mom probably turned it off...i open the door...

And Chrissy is sittin there with a camera..."What the...?"

SURPRISE!

And there were a million of them! my mistake...bout 18 of camped out in my room...heads everywhere! BANG. party Poppers...im still scratchin my head...what in the world...
"Okay guys...WHAT THE HECK ARE U GUYS DOIN HERE?!"

We all come out of the room, adn the Chung Seng runs out of Matt's room "Surprise!" ah...i love second surprises...it was really funny...

apparently its my birthday. Matt setted up a surprise birthday...very cool. definetly caught me out totally...
And everybody hopefully had a nice time...there was alotta food and it was cool...i did want to celebrate somehow but considerin some were at the conference, i didnt wanna celebrate without em so i decided not to do anythin in the end...but i was wrong.

It's definetly my best birthday yet...ive never been caught out with a surprise birthday...im usually the one that throws em for my mom...

I've also come to the conclusion that im blind...cos when i stepped out of my house to get into Sue's car...Thomas' car was here and he was in the car! That was why Sue was waving her arms like a mad woman. As we were drivin, apparently bert and phan were pulling up and that was why Sam started goin all sugar crazy "helloooo" on me...and as we arrived home, Tuuli...who was runnin abit late...was hidin behind the big bush near my front door which i didnt see at all!

Crazy people...I love you all.

19

So...im 19 today.

Ross Maximilian Chinn is 19 years old. 19 ... Mimi has already started calling me 'old'. and y'know what...i do feel old...pretty soon ill be one of those guys still wearin studded belts in his 40s...great.
I think the reason why today didnt feel "wow! wow! bling! bang!" is cos i think i had a great year as an 18 year old...ive had ups and ive had downs but mainly...its been pretty up. i learnt alot of new things...i gained new experiences...it was a fantastic year.

So...im wondering how the year of 19 will match up to it...theres so much more to learn but will it be a positive experience...? Will things finally sort themselves up...? questions...

Today, did my usual sunday thing of church and iD although the highlight of today was when i was talkin to Kiet about being old when Chih and Emily came over...
"emily wants to say something to u"

AND SHE SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! was so cute...she paused at the end to ask chih wat my name was tho...but it was so cool...absolutely brilliant.

So yeah..my fingers are gettin tired...i think its a sign of old age...or arthritis...im not sure...

Hella better...

So...ive been sick since Monday...my official party line for these past few days was:

"Je suis avec bird flu...Mange tout"

Was feelin a lil off Monday arvo...then went for a joyride with Sam and Sue in the evenin, completely deteriorated in front of em...the roundabouts didnt help..felt i was goin to barf. Shivered through the night.
Same happened on Tuesday...decided to drag myself to school and stick it out...made it till 2pm but pulled out before triple Biology...woke up at 1am and for some reason, random numbers were playing and replaying over and over again in my mind...for a second, i thought i was Hurley from "Lost".
Tried to come in again at around half 11 for practice on aseptic technique for biology but was ordered home by my bio teacher cos i looked like "sh*ite"...so, trudged home back to sleep...i did barf later in the evening. missed the Little Shop of Horrors play which i was gutted about. But i didnt wanna infect anybody.
Today, feelin better...by tomoro, i should be like fine...but its good.

Startin my Star Wars adventures...rented out Star Wars IV today..bring it on Darth..
